22 Jan A Regular Guy
This past weekend was so good. It was one of what I consider my “regular guy” weekends.
As a Pastor, weekends are mostly consumed with ministry leadership and preparation. I try to have everything ready to go for Sunday by the end of Friday, but even when I do, I find that once the clock hits noon or so on Saturday, my mind starts to shift towards Sunday morning.
That’s natural for a Pastor, I think. It just comes with the territory. That’s one reason ministry life can be tough on the family. When the kids are off, Pastor/Dad is on. My day off is a school day for them.
A few years ago, I began to realize the need to not preach EVERY weekend. It gives me the chance to have a “regular guy” weekend. Do stuff with Colleen, with the kids, or even just for me, that makes it feel like a regular Saturday and Sunday.
