Just want to thank everyone for all of the love and support we’ve received over the last 24 hours since we arrived here in Seattle! It would take too much time to go into all the emails, texts, FB messages and wall posts and blog comments left sending prayer and offering physical support while we are here. It’s been truly overwhelming to us!

With this post, I certainly want to let you know that Colleen continues to improve, and very rapidly at that! She is feeling MUCH better than she did the last few days and even in the last 12-18 hours. However, what I mainly want to communicate with this post is that …

I ALMOST MISSED A MIRACLE …

and I don’t want you to miss it either!

In the 27 minutes between the last 2 posts, a SIGNIFICANT miracle occurred, and I did NOT notice it when I wrote the last post, but I HAVE since then. And I don’t want you to miss it either because if you prayed for Colleen, you were a part of that miracle.

We were headed FULL FORCE into a procedure where they would stick a needle into the sac around Colleen’s heart in order to drain the fluid that was constricting its function. Throughout last night, almost every hour and at times even more, a doctor of one sort or another would come into the room, wake her (us) up and listen to her heartbeat. Each doctor that came through was progressively more concerned that the fluid was building and we would HAVE TO drain the fluid rather than wait for medications to do their things and relieve the inflammation.

Around 8:00 this morning, another cardiac ultrasound was done. About 9:45 this morning, a team of three doctors came in and said, “we’ve seen the ultrasound, we’ve all consulted with each other and the cardiologist, and we all agree, we need to drain the fluid.” While we were certainly willing to do what needed to be done, they were not the most encouraging words to hear.

I wrote the post letting you know we were moving ahead. Not 10 minutes after I wrote that post, the cardiologist walked in asking a barrage of questions of events leading up to this point and how Colleen was feeling at the moment. He asked, “Would you say you are feeling significantly better now than you did when we admitted you 12 hours ago?” She said, “yes”, and he said, “we’re NOT going in”.

Colleen raised her hands and said, “Hallelujah!” Her countenance was instantly changed!

Somewhere between “we all agree, we need to drain the fluid” and “we’re NOT going in”, people were praying and a miracle occurred, and it CHANGED this day!

I ALMOST MISSED THAT, and I don’t want you to!

There are some things to continue to pray through. In the physical, this does mean that Colleen will need to remain on steroid medications for longer than she has ever wanted to. She has always resisted this move when it’s been recommended in previous situations. The cardiologist also mentioned that there is now an increased risk of recurrence of pericarditis and pericardial effusion. But those are just things in the physical, and we’re glad to serve a God greater than those things.

For today, a MIRACLE occurred, I almost missed it, and I’m not missing anymore! Don’t you either!

I’ll let you know how things go from here. If she keeps going at this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised to see her discharged tomorrow!
